Gov. Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State says security will be the first priority of the second term of his administration.

Al-Makura disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Lafia following his re-election  at Saturday’s polls.

He said government would consolidate on the gains so far recorded in the area of security by ensuring that the lives and property of the people were adequately protected.

According to the governor, his administration would embark on mop-up of small arms and ammunition from militia groups as part of efforts to stem the tide of violent clashes and criminality in the state.

He also called for the support of the people, saying security was a collective responsibility of all citizens.

On infrastructure development, Al-Makura said he would not embark on “bogus capital projects’’ but would concentrate on projects that had direct bearing on the lives of the less privileged.

He promised to run an all-inclusive government irrespective of ethnic, religious or political leanings.

Al-Makura also called on all citizens of the state, including his political opponents, to put the elections behind them and join him moving the state forward. (N
