Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, are among the top dignitaries expected at the second National Hajj Stakeholders’ Summit scheduled for April 30, 2025.
Organised by the Hajj Institute of Nigeria (HIN) in collaboration with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the high-level gathering will focus on the theme: “Sustainable Hajj Financing: Developing a Resilient Model for Nigerian Pilgrims and Operators.”
Other distinguished guests expected at the event include ministers, members of the National Assembly, NAHCON Board members and Management, leadership of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards/Agencies/Commissions, Private Sector Hajj Operators, relevant MDAs, Islamic Financial Institutions, and fintech companies
NAHCON’s Assistant Director, Information and Publications, Fatima Usara, in a statement on Monday, disclosed that the summit would feature four technical sessions with seven panelists each.
Usara said each session will explore critical issues in Hajj funding, digital payment infrastructure, and sustainable investment mechanisms tailored to the Nigerian Hajj ecosystem.
She added that the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Industry and former Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Dr. Mansur Muhtar, would deliver the keynote address, while Professor Abdullah Saleh Usman would serve as Chief Host.
The Rector of the Hajj Institute, Professor Muhammad Nasiruddeen Maiturare, is leading preparations for the summit, which he described as a platform for strategic conversations on the future of Hajj financing in Nigeria.
Earlier on April 14, a Steering Committee chaired by the Deputy Rector, Professor Wasiu O. Gabadeen, was inaugurated at the HIN Conference Room to coordinate logistics and content for the summit.
The committee comprises HIN Registrar, Prof. Abubakar Ibrahim Jalingo; representatives from NAHCON’s Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) Unit, States and Zones Unit, protocol, and media departments.
