Suspected terrorists kill six, abduct others in Katsina
Suspected terrorists have killed at least six people and injured several others in a couple of villages in Jibia Local Council of Katsina State.
The incident, which occurred at 11.30 p.m. and lasted until the wee hours of Thursday, claimed the life of village head of Daddara Liman community, Alhaji Jafaru Rabiu, popularly known as Maylgaji Yangayya.
Sources said the suspected terrorists Daddara village, killed four persons and abducted unspecified number of residents and livestock.
Spokesperson for the police command in the state, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incidents, but said that five persons lost their lives during the attack.
He confirmed that the terrorists, brandishing sophisticated weapons, and invited the village around 11.30pm where they started shooting sporadically.
“By the time our DPO arrived in the company of some military personnel, he met the bandits trying to move away with some people and animals. They exchanged gunfire and chased the bandits away, but one woman is still missing,” he said.
He added that there was influx of bandits into the state as a result of ongoing military onslaught against them in neighbouring Zamfara and Sokoto states.
“But there is synergy now between all security agencies and we are trying to flush them out,” he said.
