UNICEF lauds Kano government’s free, compulsory education
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has commended Kano State Government’s recent declaration of free and compulsory basic and secondary education in the state.
This is coming as the United Nations agency condemned an increasing number of out of school children and the absence of Child Rights Act in some parts of the country.
UNICEF Chief Field Officer, Maulid Warfa, who made the commendation during a Youth Talk Programme at the weekend in Kano, explained that the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje administration has taken a bold step on the education of young generation, which has taken a center stage of attraction.
Warfa, who lamented that Nigeria still has the world’s highest statistics of out of schools children called for immediate measures similar to Kano State’s policy on education to check the trend.
