Science education is crucial for fostering innovation and addressing real-world challenges. However, the lack of proper equipment and learning materials limits some secondary school students’ ability to explore, experiment and develop essential skills for scientific and technological progress.

To enhance practical learning in schools, Vcare for Development Foundation (VCDF), with support from Natural Oilfield Services Limited (NOSL) and Ibom Developers FZE (IDFZE), has donated some science equipment and consumables to Okoromita Comprehensive Secondary School in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

This initiative aims to empower students with a deeper understanding of scientific concepts, inspire innovation and equip young minds to contribute meaningfully to technological advancement.

The presentation includes a variety of essential laboratory apparatus such as anatomical models, microscopes for observing microscopic organisms, skeletons for studying human anatomy, resistance boxes and voltmeters for physics experiments as well as other scientific materials. These resources are designed to enrich the teaching and learning of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in secondary schools, providing students with hands-on experience to deepen their understanding and foster a culture of innovation.

During the presentation and demonstration of the equipment, Dr. Raymond Kokoette, praised VCDF for the initiative, describing it as a significant contribution to the advancement of science education in the school. He encouraged students to maximise the resources for academic excellence while urging the school’s management to ensure the proper maintenance of the items.

Distinguished guests present at the event included the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Jonah Ezekiel, and the Head of the Science Department, Anderson Elijah. They commended VCDF for its generosity, assuring that the new equipment would be effectively utilised to enhance students’ learning experiences and academic performance.

This presentation initiative is part of a broader effort by VCDF to strengthen science education in the region. Previously, VCDF provided science consumables to Iko Community Secondary School, Eastern Obolo and with this, Okoromita Comprehensive Secondary School has now been added to the list of beneficiaries.

The programme underscores VCDF’s commitment to expanding access to quality science education and NOSL and IDFZE’s dedication to supporting educational initiatives that empower young minds.

VCDF, NOSL and IDFZE remain steadfast in their commitment to equipping students with the resources and opportunities needed to excel academically and make meaningful contributions to their communities. This initiative highlights the importance of promoting science education as a catalyst for fostering innovation and driving sustainable development.
