We Have No Problem With Payment Of Minimum Wage, Says Kano Govt
KANO State government has distanced itself from the statement of governors of their intention to reduce the federal minimum wage of N18, 000 or downsize their work force because of the current economic crunch facing the country.
Commissioner for Finance in the state, Prof. Kabiru Isa Dandago, who allayed palpable fears of workers and growing agitation by workers’ union, insisted that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led administration never complained of any hindrance to payment of workers.
Dandago, who insisted that government has no known challenges that may prevent the state from meeting her monthly recurrent expenditure, noted that government was working hard to remain self-reliant despite the dwindling federal allocation.
Dandago hinted this yesterday while inaugurating the state task force committee to monitor the biometric data capturing system for state civil servants saying, “We don’t have problem with paying minimum wages in Kano and as a matter of fact, the government is not complaining of incapacitation to meet its demand in that regards.”
