Wellspring University to honour John Momoh at 11th convocation

The management of Wellspring University, Edo State will, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, confer an honorary Doctorate degree on the Chairman of Channels Television, Mr. John Momoh for his outstanding public service and immense contributions to the development of the education sector at the 11th convocation of the institution.

Prof. Isaac Rotimi Ajayi, Vice Chancellor, Wellspring University, stated this in Benin City on Tuesday at a press conference heralding the 11th convocation ceremony of the University.

Ajayi said the institution would be churning out 116-degree graduands, with a total of 14 First Class, 43 Second Class Upper Division, 44 with the Second Class Lower Division while 11 will fall into the other categories.

He said the University remains in good academic standing with all its academic programmes accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) adding that its Nursing Science recently got full accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria in addition to its NUC accreditation.

According to the VC, the University remains irrevocably committed to the pursuit of the mandate as formulated by its Founder, Ambassador Daniel C. Isimoya.

“The day’s activities will get to a crescendo by the conferment of First degrees, and Higher degrees on graduands by the Chancellor of the University, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo.

“The ceremony will also feature the award of honorary Doctorate degree to a distinguished and eminent personality and media industry leader, Mr. John Olatchy Momoh, the Chairman/CEO of Channels Television, for his outstanding public service and his immense contributions to the development of education in Nigeria and globally by his profession.

“At the 11th Convocation, a total of 116 graduands will be awarded First degrees and 98 are to be awarded Postgraduate Diplomas and Masters degrees, while prizes will be presented to some outstanding graduands.

“Of the 116 First degree graduands, a total of 14 will graduate with First Class, 43 will graduate with Second Class Upper Division, 44 with the Second Class Lower Division while 11 will fall into the other categories.” Ajayi said

The Vice-Chancellor said that the Convocation programme will kick start on Thursday 19th of October, 2023 with a special Keep-Fit exercise and a Convocation Lecture on Saturday October 21, 2023 to be delivered by Engr. (Dr.) Ayodele Abioye, the Managing Director, BUA Foods Plc, who will speak on the topic: ‘Career and Life Transitions in Contemporary World’.
