We’re ready for oil, gas investors, Federal Govt reassures
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, has restated Nigeria’s readiness for global investors to improve crude production and importation.
This comes as headquarters of energy giant, Baker Hughes, said it was willing to pump funds into refinery project and sustainable energy.
Lokpobiri, on the sidelines of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), attended by president/CEO of Baker Hughes, Lorenzo Simonelli, warned that would not be business as usual in attracting investments into the nation’s energy sector.
At the meeting, Simonelli informed Lokpobiri of his company’s commitment to transform energy nationwide in collaboration with the Federal Government.
“Nigeria is a blessed nation with vast potential and great opportunities in diverse sectors. As a partner with the Federal Government over the years, we are inspired to direct investment in the refinery domain of the oil and gas. Therefore, whatever that we can do to support, I am willing to do that even now,” he promised.
The minister reassured government’s preparedness to creating an enabling environment for investments in the sector. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Communication, Nneamaka Okafor, the erstwhile Speaker of Bayelsa House of Assembly pledged that adequate measures would be put in place to facilitate actualisation of investment plans in tune with the Renewed Hope agenda of the current administration.
“I am very happy that you have joined other companies in identifying the great opportunities and government’s favourable policies in our oil and gas sector, and with the advent of the PIA, we now have a workable framework that guarantees conducive environment for investment,” Lokpobiri added.
