A 31-year woman, Esther Hussain, on Thursday pleaded with an Igando Customary Court to dissolve her marriage over alleged lack of trust from her husband.

Esther alleged that her husband would beat and naked her in public at the slightest provocation and accused her of infidelity.

“He beats me up for no just cause; he has no regards for me as his wife.

“How can I continue to love and respect a man that beats and does not trust me?

“He suspects me with any man, I begged him to wait till he catches me red handed in the act, but he always jumps into conclusion,” Esther said.

Her husband, Tasiru, however told the court that his wife had no regard for him.

“she takes calls of various men in my presence without any atom of respect.

“I have kept my cool for too long, some women would hide their infidelity, but not my wife; she picks her calls at will in my presence.

“I see text messages from men telling her where to meet her, in spite of this I still love her, I do not want our children to be products of a broken home, ” he said.

The Court President, Adegboyega Omilola, advised the couple to try and resolve the matter through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) with three members of their family each.

He then adjourned the case to March 22 for further hearing.
