Youths told to develop pro-accountability skills

Experts have told Nigerian youths to develop technological competence that would mitigate lack of transparency and accountability in governance accountability skills

DIGITEST national coordinator, Mrs. lbukun Odusote, stated that absence of accountability in governance had remained a major barrier to development. Odusote spoke at the opening of the 18th edition of DIGITEST, a yearly information and communications technology (ICT) creative camp and competition for young techies within the ages of eight to 18.

This year’s edition entitled ‘E-Governance, Accountability, Creativity and Transparency’ was hosted by Lead-Forte Gate College, Lagos, where participants would be camped for two weeks to be trained by ICT experts, amid mentoring sessions, practical skill competition and other activities.

The event, she noted, is hinged on nation building, as youths would be reviewing the issues bordering on electronic governance and deploying various ICT tools to tackle societal problems. She called for improved stakeholders’ involvement in the process whereby everyone drives for solutions to issues.
