Yusuf makes history as LASU’s best graduating student in 40 years
A student of the Faculty of Law in Lagos State University (LASU), Aminat Imoitesemeh Yusuf, has emerged the best graduating student for the 2021/2022 academic session with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.00
Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed this at a media briefing to herald the 26th convocation ceremony and 40th anniversary of the institution.
Her unparalleled dedication and unyielding pursuit of excellence, according to the VC, earned her the coveted honour, accompanied by a N500,000 cash prize from the university management.
Aminat’s CGPA is the highest recorded since inception of the university 40 years ago.
Olatunji-Bello also announced Lopez Feyisayo Divine of the Department of Physiology, at the University’s College of Medicine, as the best graduating student for the 2020/2021 academic session with 4.91 CGPA.
The duo would be officially announced and honoured at the convocation ceremony on June 21, 2023.
While the VC congratulated families and departments of the best graduating students, she disclosed that there are a total of 282 first-class students in the two academic sessions, which is the highest number of first-class honors in 40 years.
