NATHAN Sinkala is sad with the news that he will not play any further part in the 2015 AFCON due to injury.
The 24-year-old TP Mazembe midfielder has been ruled out of action for four weeks due to a torn ligament in his knee.
Sinkala sustained the injury on January 18 during Zambia’s 1-1 Group B opener against DR Congo in Ebebiyin.
“It is very sad to me especially that I got injured in the first game,” Sinkala said.
“But I am wishing the guys the very best in the remaining two games.”
Sinkala limped off in the 85th minute and was replaced by defender Christopher Munthali.
The influential defensive midfielders’ departure has left Zambia coach Honour Janza with just 22 players to count on in the push for a quarterfinal place in the teams’ remaining two Group B matches.
Zambia are tied on one point with their Group B opponents Tunisia, Cape Verde and DR Congo.
Chipolopolo face Tunisia on Thursday in their penultimate Group B match.
