SIR: The advert placed by Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose on the health of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), is highly provocative and insulting to the entire country. The desperation of some supporters of PDP to portray the candidate of the opposition party in bad light has gone against the tenets of the recent no-violence agreement among the political parties.

The governor has thrown decorum to the winds by the signed advert. Splashing such offensive and highly volatile advert should not be condoned in a charged political atmosphere. It is, therefore, worrisome the acceptance by two national newspapers from a section of the country without considering its political implication.

The deaths in office by the heads of the state he cited were the wish of their creator. Governor Fayose should understand that death is inevitable, it will come in its time; every Muslim believes he would answer the call of his creator when the time comes. It becomes imperative for political leaders to be mindful of their campaign strategies and allow peace to prevail before and after elections.

The media should also put the interest of the country first, against any monetary gains.
