• Warns gov against vendetta towards erstwhile boss camp
• Stop spreading misinformation, focus on your internal issues, APC tells opposition
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State chapter, has berated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for allegedly abandoning the projects initiated by his predecessor, the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
According to the opposition party, Aiyedatiwa’s purported action was borne out of political vendetta against the camp of the late Akeredolu due to the alleged stance against his ascension to the office of the governor during the impeachment saga and when he was the deputy governor.
The PDP, in a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Leye Igbabo, while reeling out the abandoned projects to include the Ijoka Road construction project, Alagbaka Extension Road project, Onyearugbulem Junction Flyover bridges, among others, emphasised that with the resources at the disposal of Aiyedatiwa, the projects ought to have been completed.
The opposition party, which expressed dismay over the development, alleged that Aiyedatiwa’s grudge against his late predecessor’s camp was also evident in its quest to discontinue the road project where his residence is situated in Alagbaka, Akure.
It, therefore, appealed to the governor to exhibit large-heartedness, saying that government is a continuum, particularly that he is the sole beneficiary of the circumstances that brought him to power.
MEANWHILE, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has described the position of the PDP as false with an admonition to the opposition party to stop spreading misinformation and focus on internal issues confronting the party.
Director of Media and Publicity of the party, Steve Otaloro, stated that the projects initiated under the previous administration of Akeredolu had been receiving the attention they deserved, particularly since Aiyedatiwa viewed the past administration as an extension of his own.
“It is nonsensical for the PDP to suggest that the governor would undermine the legacy he helped to build by neglecting ongoing projects.
“In fact, Governor Aiyedatiwa recently commissioned several road projects and infrastructure developments, including the Oda Road and its extensions, which were foundationally laid by the late Akeredolu. These actions reflect our commitment to continuity and progress, rather than the abandonment of vital projects.
“It is ironic that the PDP, a party that sought to overturn the people’s mandate granted to Aiyedatiwa during the November 16, 2024 governorship election but dismissed at the tribunal, now resorts to a campaign of disinformation. Their attempts to discredit the governor through baseless propaganda are not only misguided but also reflect their own internal struggles and declining relevance,” he said.
