SUCCOR may soon come the way of civil servants in Delta State, with plans by the government to complete about 150 housing units along Ibusa road, Asaba.

  Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan who gave the assurance to civil servants in the state last week during an inspection tour of the government owned 150 housing estate for workers.

   He said that arrangements for electricity, heater and other facilities were being finalized, adding that the most challenging aspect of the project was the landscaping.

    His words: “What is critical for me is the landscaping. Then of course the access road must be tarred for the owners to move in.”

   Governor Uduaghan stated that when allocated, accommodation challenges being encountered by civil servants would be reduced. He assured that in the next couple of weeks, the houses would be allocated

   The immediate past Commissioner for Housing in the state and Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, said the houses which have reached advanced stages will be allocated to civil servants on owner-occupier basis.

  Akpeki said: “This is going to be one of the landmark legacies of your administration for civil servants.”

   The Chief of Staff said that the units are in one-bedroom, two-bedrooms and three-bedrooms categories, stating that the office of the state’s Head of Service would handle the allocation of the houses.
