Dakkadah Tower is smartest, intelligent building in Akwa Ibom, says official

Akwa Ibom State Government Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has described the newly completed Dakkada Tower as ‘the smartest, intelligent, most modern building’ Nigeria can boast of today, in Akwa Ibom.

The 21-storey office development is located in the Central Business District of Uyo and developed by the Akwa Ibom State Government, while VKS Construction Limited was the main contractor. It has a land area of 48,200 square metres and a total build area of 18,639 square metres

Construction works, which commenced in 2017 was completed last year and commissioned two months ago by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo.

The 21st floor serves as a terrace, which will offer the occupants a great landscape view of the city of Uyo. Amenities include 500 parking bays, four elevators, access control systems, humidity and temperature sensors and a central cooling system.

Other features are fire electric pumps, technical rooms E30 cabling for S90 fire, boom barrier for cars and a mechanical floor that controls sewage and takes care of waste disposal.

The governor advised the International Oil Companies (IOCs) to relocate to Uyo and secure offices in the 21-Storey Dakkada Tower, as it was ready to accommodate them.

“The oil companies were complaining that they didn’t have office accommodation. That has ended today,” Emmanuel said.

He said his administration was spearheading innovations that would create revenues and jobs, in order to put the state on the world map.

The State Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Okpolukpom Etteh, said the tower is defined by increased automation and integration, advanced electronic and information technologies.

“It also has an integrated structure, with a system, service, energy-efficient and management, with an enhanced connectivity through wired and wireless networks and advanced sensor systems,” Etteh added.
