The Vice Chancellor, Atiba University, Oyo Town, Prof. Sunday Okeniyi, has suggested how infrastructural gaps in Nigerian universities can be bridged.

The VC, who spoke with journalists during the combined maiden convocation of the university, urged universities to find ways of increasing their revenues and increasing funding by their proprietors.

He also called on the government to support private universities, saying that they are partners in progress. Okeniyi, who disclosed that the university would hold convocation for about 197 students, said five of the graduating students would graduate with First Class.

MEANWHILE, four out of 36 First Class graduates of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo Town, have become Associate Chartered Accountants (ACA), having passed the examination conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

The VC of the university, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, disclosed this, at the weekend, during a media briefing to herald the institution’s 15th convocation ceremony.

The VC said: “Four out of the 36 First Class students in the Department of Accounting and Finance passed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) examination. They started the ICAN programme while being undergraduate and received lectures on campus.”Adebayo also said that 1,598 students from both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels would be graduating.
