The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has denied allegations that he assisted the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to return to Kano on Saturday.

The Guardian reports that Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, had alleged that Ribadu provided two aircraft for Bayero’s return to the ancient city in the wee hours of Saturday, at about 4:30 am.

“The National Security Adviser provided two jets to bring the dethroned emir to Kano and to bring him to the palace,” Abdulsalam said.

Reacting to the claims, NSA spokesperson, Zakari Mijinyawa, described the deputy governor’s claim as untrue.

He urged politicians to be mindful of their utterances as they could jeopardise efforts by security agencies to maintain peace in the state.

“I read the comments on social media; it is untrue. The NSA did not provide air transport to anyone to Kano. Political actors should desist from misinforming the public as law enforcement officials in the state strive to maintain peace and order,” Mijinyawa said.

Kano Governor, Abbas Yusuf, reinstated Lamido Sanusi as the 16th Emir of Kano, four years after he was removed by the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

This followed the repealing of the state’s Emirate Council Law 2019, which created five emirate councils and five first-class emirs.

The governor subsequently announced the reinstatement of Sanusi on Thursday; however, a judge of the Federal High Court restrained the state government from implementing the new emirate council law that reinstated Sanusi.

The Kano State Government ignored the court order, with the state governor claiming the judge who gave the order was out of the country and had no right to stop what the state assembly had done using due process.
