Beauty means different things to different people just as style confers different pictures to different people. Curiously, oftentimes, many people tend to mix up beauty with style and vice versa. For Mimi Whyte-Femi, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Skin Therapy Beauty and Spa, a leading brand in the beauty business, beauty and style go hand-in-hand but different in substance.

She explains, “Like I always tell people, beauty compliments style. There’s nothing like a healthy glowing skin. Be you light-skinned, caramel tone-skinned or dark-skinned. Both beauty and style go hand in hand. You can be beautiful without style. Beauty to me, first of all is in the heart, that’s the main beauty for me and the second is an “even glowing skin”. Style on the other hand is your preferred expression of your appearance or how you do things. There’s just this added glow and sparkle when your skin is flawless and you have got a good style sense. It is always better and more elegant.”

“It is very possible that one can be beautiful without style but it is almost impossible to have style and not be beautiful/attractive,” she said. “Style is like the catalyst to beauty. Style is the basis of acceptability in the society. It is a style that maintains beauty. It is style that places beauty on a higher pedestal. Style is elegance, style is grace, style is sophistication and style is that thing that makes beautiful people keep up with their daily skin routine,” she added.

Mimi Whyte-Femi said she made beauty her business because she loves making people confident in their skin as a glowing skin builds confidence.

“I have always had a passion for this, there’s this inner joy I feel helping everyone treat or solve their skin issues. Growing up I used to be the one in the house to help my sisters, aunties or friends get products to close out their spots, acne etc. So, for me it’s a thing of passion and I’m glad I have been able to boost confidence levels and change lives. I even have clients who have given me gifts just to say “thank you” for helping them restore their confidence back,” she said.

Since she established Skin Therapy Beauty and Spa Mimi Whyte-Femi has distinguished herself with the unique methods she deploys in making people beautiful. She revealed that she feels immense joy when she sees the happy faces after her job is done.

“Our in-house services are very relaxing and calming. They relieve pain, stress and improve your wellness. Also, to boost your confidence level …as there’s just this confidence you have/feel having a healthy glowing skin free from acne, sunburn etc,” she added.

One competition in the industry, Whyte-Femi offered, “One thing I tell all my clients is our products and treatment services are not regular. They are particularly targeted to meet or solve a particular skin need or desire. They are not regular …they are skin-deserving/needing…so there’s no competition whatsoever, we are the best. Moreso, the sky is big enough for everybody, so we aren’t worried about competition,” she said.

Mimi Whyte-Femi operates her business from upscale locations in Lekki, Lagos and Wuse 2 in Abuja. Her business extends beyond the shores of Nigeria as a result of a strong social media presence. Her Instagram page @skintherapybeautyandspa is replete with testimonials on the efficacy of her treatment and services.
