ABIA State Governor Theodore Orji has enjoined Christians to use the period of Easter to pray for sustained peace and unity of Nigeria, successful conduct of the April 11, 2015 governorship and House of Assembly elections and thereafter a smooth transition to power by the next elected governments in the country.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Charles Ajunwa, the governor, who will transit to the senate in June, having been elected to represent Abia Central, stated that  “the lessons of love, humility, selflessness, forgiveness and perseverance shown by the Lord Jesus Christ through his death on the cross and resurrection should be emulated by all Nigerians at all times especially at this critical period in our nation’s history.”

The statement held that although Christ underwent very trying and difficult times on the cross in order to bring salvation to man, Christ never gave up but persevered and triumphed in the end adding that the salvation brought to mankind by Christ should not be taken for granted hence he further admonished Nigerians to look up to God for solutions to their problems.

Congratulating and wishing Christians happy Easter celebration, the senator-elect counseled Nigerians to let the love of Christ continue to pervade the country and reflect on the life of selfless service lived by Jesus Christ.
