150 athletes set for 10th Korean Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championships

A total of 150 athletes from 20 teams will compete for honours at this year’s 10th edition of Korean Ambassador’s Cup for Taekwondo holding between October 17 and 18 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere Lagos.

The registered states and clubs for the competition include Akwa Ibom, Kano, Kebbi, Lagos, FCT, Delta, Osun, Taraba, Oyo, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Anambra, Edo, Ebonyi, Ondo states. Others are the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police and the NSCDC.

Registration for this year’s championship was done online through the World Taekwondo Global Membership System and will be streamed live after a concluded plans to ensure it reaches a global audience.

Technology to be deployed at the event would include the Daedo Gen Two electronic scoring system, Taekoplan Overall Venue Management System and Instant Video Replay, which would ensure that the event matches

Winners will win prizes that include taekwondo equipment and huge national ranking points. The best male and female athlete will go home with a brand new Flat TV sets as grand prizes, while free tournament T-shirts will be given to all participants and spectators at the event.

Expected at the event are bronze medallist at the African Games, Benjamin Okuomose; African Youth bronze medalist, Chidinma Okoko Helen; Commonwealth medalist, Josephine Esuku; the MVP and gold medalist at the 2018 KAC, Ifeoluwa Ajayi.

The high-status Korean Ambassador’s series is making its first appearance in Lagos after the last edition in the city in 2016.
