The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), yesterday, heaved a sigh of relief when the South African Embassy decided to issue entry visas to members of the national U-18 team basketball team, D’Tigers, who are billed to feature in the ongoing AfroBasket Men’s U-18 Championship, in Pretoria.
The Nigerian was earlier scheduled to travel to South Africa last weekend, but the refusal of the embassy to issue the traveling document as required delayed their movement.
Following the delay in issuing the documents, NBBF officials made frantic efforts yesterday to get the team to Pretoria early enough for their opening match against Egypt today.
The head of the delegation, Ugo Udezue, who confirmed the development, lamented that the time has put the team in a difficult situation, as they may not have enough time to rest before their opening game.
