The Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, will be a beehive of activities on Wednesday (April 15), as the African Youth Athletics Championships final Selection Trials ‎and the AFN 2nd All-Comers Competition holds.

Also, the competition shall serve as a basis to select athletes for the few lanes available at the forth coming World Relays in The Bahamas and the CAA Golden Grand Prix tagged Warri Relays.

The city of Warri, Delta State, will host the CAA Golden Grand Prix (Warri Relays) in May. The championship currently ranks second in Africa behind the World Challenge, which usually take place in Rabat, Morocco.

The Technical Director/Chairman Technical Committee of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Navy Commodore Omatseye Nesiama, told The Guardian yesterday that all proposed athletes and coaches for the African Youth Athletics Championships should present themselves with their International Passports for the selection trials at Yaba College of Technology on Wednesday.

He said that camping of the team would commence immediately after the trials.

Nesiama stated that in line with the AFN Programme of activities, all states, military, para-military, higher institutions and clubs should send their entries for the 2nd All-Comers Competition.
