CHAN Qualifying Series: Nigeria pitched against Burkina Faso

THE home-based Eagles have been drawn against Burkina Faso in the first qualifying round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) slated for Rwanda in 2016.

Drawn in West Africa Zone B, Nigeria will host the first leg of the qualifier on the weekend of October 16, 17, 18, 2015, while the return leg will hold in Burkina Faso on the weekend of October 23, 24, 25 2015.

Also in Nigeria’s zone are Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger and Togo.

The draw made at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, yesterday, was based on the zonal representation of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.
 
42 teams will be engaged in the qualifiers that will produce the 15 teams to join hosts for the final tournament scheduled for January 16 to February 7, 2016.

The CHAN is a tournament designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Supersand Eagles will play host nation, Seychelles, Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire in Group A of the 2015 African Beach Soccer Championship in Seychelles this month.
