Eke tips South-South to continue dominance in Judo

The assistant coach of the Delta State Judo Association and Head of Ekus Judo Club, Sensei Osahon Eke, has declared that the South-South zone will continue to dominate the Nigerian judo scene, pointing at the zone’s consistency in the development of the sport.

Eke stated this during the closing ceremony of a two-day coaches and referees seminar organised by the Delta State Judo Association in conjunction with Ekus Judo Club and Big Judo.

Sensei Eke said that the zone, which has continued to produce the leading judo athletes in the country, is already seeking ways to improve its performances at the forthcoming National Sports Festival, as well as, international meets this year.

He revealed that the zone, in a bid to enhance the performances of its athletes, organised the seminar to bring the coaches and referees abreast with the modern laws of the International Judo Federation, which would also help put the athletes in better stead going into the Sports Festival in Abeokuta.

Coach Eke lauded the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr Onoriode Oborevwori and the Director General of the Commission, Mr Festus Ohwojero, for their continued support and leadership. He stressed that they have continued to inspire a regeneration in the state sports sector.

He also thanked the coaches and referees, who took part in the two-day event, saying that having learnt of the new rules they must imbibe the same in other coaches, referees, and athletes in a bid to sustain the growth of the game in the region.

On his part, Mr. Lanky Osagie Omoregbe, also known as BigJudo, commended the Delta State Sports Commission and judo association for organising the two-day seminar, describing it as a welcomed development.
