A FINAL year student of Demonstration Secondary School, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Micah Katuka, led two other players to win Sprite Triple Slam (STS) basketball competition at the basketball court of the university’s main campus in Samaru.

The basketball players from Blades group came tops ahead of 19 other contestants during the Sprite Triple Slam activation, from the stable of world beverage giant, Coca-Cola, which combines basketball, music and dance to deliver unlimited fun and a chance to win N6 million and a world-class basketball theme music video.

STS 2010 activation judge and former Olympian, Mobolaji Kolade, announced that Blades basketball players won the Zaria zone. She said they might lack the required height but have lots of potential, adding that they exhibited the best skills of the game during the encounter.

According to Micah, who is 5ft 9 in tall, “the special thing about our victory in this competition is God. God is using us to demonstrate to the world that he can use anybody in any sphere.

“Basketball is meant for tall people but this is a message to all those that believe they are handicapped. Everyone is capable; you must believe in yourself and your dream will come true.”

He said his group came together for the game when they saw Sprite Triple Slam fliers. He advised that people should expect the continuation of God’s excellent work in their lives at the grand finale in Lagos.
