FORMER Nigerian international and Coach, Samson Siasia, will lead a team of retired Super Eagles’ players to blow the whistle on kidney disease, which is crippling an estimated 30 million Nigerians.

Siasia will lead former stars, including legends like Augustine Eguavoen, Taribo West and Austin Okocha in a novelty game against a Nollywood team led by Fred Amata and featuring comedian, AY.

The match is organized under the auspices of the Bow Tie Club’s Kidney Trust Fund, a fund set up by the club to raise N200 million to support kidney victims in Nigeria.

Managed by CSL Trustees Limited, a member of the FCMB Group, this initiative is in memory of Mrs. Ganiyat Ogunfoworin, a 56-year-old grandmother, who recently passed away in India after losing a gallant battle against kidney disease.

Part of the proceeds would be sent to her family to help them offset outstanding hospital bills in India, as well as help secure the release of her body from the Indian authorities, who have held on to it as a result of non payment of her bills.

Both sides will be joined by two corporate football teams to challenge for the first Titilayo Ogunfoworin Cup, which is scheduled to be an annual contest.

According to the organisers, the game will hold at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos on March 21 with music supplied by a mystery internationally acclaimed DJ.
