Lobi Stars of Makurdi Team Manager, Barnabas Imengar Snr., believes his team will win a continental ticket at the end of the season if they continued playing as well as they did at the weekend when they beat visiting Akwa United 1-0.

Lobi Stars beat Akwa United through a 55th minute goal by the team manager’s son, Barnabas Imengar Jnr., to move to the ninth position on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table.Speaking after the game, Imengar Snr., who applauded his team’s fighting spirit, said Lobi Stars won because they played according to instructions.

He revealed that Lobi Stars drew two matches at home because boys were yet to get used to the strategies of the technical crew, adding, “I am happy now because the boys have fully picked up.”

Also speaking on the game, Akwa United Coach, Maurice Cooreman, said it was unfortunate his team lost the match, a defeat he attributed to the inability of his boys to play according to instructions.

“My players failed to play well in the attack… they could not convert any of the scoring chances. We will go back to the drawing board and make necessary amends for the next match,” Cooreman said.
