The Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the International Para Powerlifting Competition, scheduled for Lagos next year, has disclosed that it would launch the event’s logo and mascot on October 9.

It added that the Chairman/CEO, HS Media Group, Taye Ige will now head the media sub-committee to raise awareness about the competition.

The World Para-Powerlifting Competition will hold in Lagos from January 28 to 30 next year.

Rising from a meeting presided by chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Tandor, the MOC clarified that while it would develop the necessary guidelines, the LOC, when set up, would be expected to execute the project in line with those guidelines.

He identified procurement of equipment to be used by the athletes during the games, Team Nigeria’s preparation and participation, transportation, international participants logistics and television production and broadcast/ transmission of the event across the world as areas that the Federal Government would be expected to take care of, while Lagos, the host city, would take responsibility for venues, accommodation (which includes feeding), intra-city transport, medicals, security, ceremonials, protocol and related logistics.
