Nike Grammar School battles Rochas College for semifinal ticket

Nike Grammar School, Enugu, known for producing such famous stars as Jay Jay Okocha, Charles Okonkwo and Innocent Egbunike, has been drawn against Rochas Foundation College, Owerri, in the quarterfinal of the 2015 All Nigeria Secondary Schools Football Championship, Also known as NNPC/Shell Cup.

They will play at the Sagamu Centre, which also has Calvary International School, Port Harcourt contending for the semifinal ticket. The 2015 NNPC/Shell Cup quarterfinals begin on May 8 in four centres spread across Nigeria.

The other centres are Port Harcourt, Minna and Kaduna. The quarterfinalists emerged from the zonal preliminaries played nationwide between April 27 and May 2 across various centres in nine zones.

At the Port Harcourt Centre, Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu Ode and Rezheight High School, Benin, will fight for the semifinal ticket, while Army Day Secondary School, Sokoto will confront Government Technical College, Yola, for Kaduna Centre’s ticket.

The final semifinalist will emerge from the games at the Minna centre three teams, including Government Day Secondary School, Kofar Yandaka, Sokoto, Government Secondary School, Gwale, Kano and Government Secondary School, Keffi, Nasarawa.

The semifinal matches will hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos between May 22 and 24. The NNPC/ Shell Cup has been a nursery for future stars of Nigerian football and according to SPDC’s Sustainable Development and Community Relations Manager, Igo Wali, “this year’s edition has been significant in many ways and we expect this to continue till we get to the final stages in Lagos.”
