NPFL: Lobi Stars set to return to Makurdi

Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Lobi Stars of Makurdi, yesterday had their first training session at the newly refurbished McCarthy Stadium, Wadata, with a view to returning to the home state in this closing stage of the season.

Already relegated to the Nigerian National League (NNL) after 34 games, Lobi Stars have been living on the road, first at the Lafia Township Stadium, then to Bauchi before moving to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

The team’s official arena, the Aper Aku Stadium, which was adjudged not good enough for NPFL games, has not held any league game for the past two seasons.

The refurbished MCcathy Stadium, which has undergone a comprehensive facelift, now boasts a brand-new playing turf and modern facilities that meet the standards set by the NPFL.

Yesterday’s training session was anchored by the club’s Head Coach, Tony Bulus, alongside his technical crew.  The team are away this weekend in Ilorin, where they will face Kwara United.  With renewed energy and an upgraded home ground, Lobi Stars look set to close the season on a high.
