Although the Super Eagles were imperial in their 3-0 defeat of eternal rivals, Cameroun, in a friendly game on Sunday, the team’s coach, Sunday Oliseh, and Captain Ahmed Musa say a lot still has to be done to get the team to the desired level. But they agree that the signs are good.

The team on Thursday lost 0-2 to Congo DR before bouncing back on Sunday with an emphatic 3-0 defeat of Cameroun.

Speaking after Sunday’s game in Belgium, Musa said the players showed they had the quality to achieve greatness, adding that they would gel as long as they continued playing together.

“It was a very good game for us. We did well and it served the purpose because we are gradually coming back to the team Nigerians want us to be, which we also want to be, we understand ourselves better being a new team. We all put in our best to achieve the result,” Musa said.

He dedicated the win to Super Eagles’ fans, who have been yearning for the return of the old flame in the team, adding, “they should keep supporting us as we will keep working hard to make them and the entire country proud.”

Oliseh, who was visibly relieved after the game, promised to continue working on the team to get the right mix.

Some impatient Nigerians had already started doubting Oliseh’s ability to handle the Eagles after Thursday’s loss to Congo DR, which was his first defeat in three game. But the coach, who was forced to play a makeshift team against Congo, believes with time Nigerians will see the team of their dream.

“In the game against Congo, I saw a very good team… we had more possession even though there were shortcomings in certain areas.

“Our target is qualification for the Nations Cup and I believe we can achieve that. We showed signs of improvement today (Sunday) and we are going to build on that,” he said.

The Guardian learnt that the next phase of the Super Eagles’ build up to the African Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt in March next year will involve some of the players from the last FIFA U-20 World Cup and the Samson Siasia’s Olympic Eagles.

You Nigerian’s will continue to loose. what does Hausa/Fulani and Yariba’s know about sports. Igbo’s are the great people who hold Nigerian sports until you cattle herdsmen and yariba’s decided to hijack it like the way you hijacked presidency. Tribalism is already in Nigerian football/sports. Therefore, it can never move forward. Oliseh is the problem because he is not a good coach or leader. When your people hates you, then you are finished and that is hitting Oliseh. Please someone should tell that oliseh to change his name. He is a failure and a disgrace.

British gave Hausa’s power to rule other because British knows that Hausa’s are incapable of human civilization. Hausa’s are just servant’s to the Britain because British finds igbo’s as a treat to them to steal oil. Yariba’s and Hausa’s are human’s but there are things people are known for. If you are talking about fraud then call yariba, if you are talking about looting and terrorist then call Hausa’s, but if you are talking about making things to happen then call igbo’s. Since when did Hausa starts playing football? lol….. All finger’s are not equal. Nigeria sports anything can never move forward with incapable people around just because of tribe. You understand that?
