Yusuf may replace Amokachi in Eagles
Former Enyimba and Kano Pillars’ Coach, Salisu Yusuf may replace Daniel Amokachi in the Super Eagles’ technical crew, reports AfricanFootball.com.
Amokachi assisted Stephen Keshi in his initial Eagles contract, which elapsed after last year’s World Cup in Brazil.
However, it appears there is now a crack in the relationship between Amokachi, who was in temporary charge of the national team, and his boss Keshi.
Amokachi was alleged to have told top Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials he did not pick the squad for last month’s friendlies against Uganda and South Africa, a statement, which the report said infuriated Keshi.
Salisu was until recently coach of Nigeria Premier League, El Kanemi Warriors, but he has not returned to the Maiduguri club for this season, as he is reportedly owed over N6 million.
He was last year appointed Eagles coach to assist Shuaibu Amodu when Keshi was initially asked to step aside.
Salisu, who has assisted Samson Siasia at both the Flying eagles and Super Eagles, is now expected to combine his job as assistant Eagles coach and tinkering the home-based team for next year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Yusuf, who had also coached Lobi Stars, won the Nigerian league with Kano Pillars and the Federation Cup with Enyimba before he moved to Nasarawa United and later El Kanemi Warriors.
