A total of 1,836 graduates, which comprise 1,616 undergraduates and 220 postgraduates, were awarded first degree, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy at the 14th convocation.

The institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo, who noted that higher education sector, is rapidly changing and also becoming competitive, said it is going to become increasingly so on a global scale. He stated that there is need to tackle head-on the idea of what a university is in the 21st century, the value proposition and why it is worth investing in.

Prof. Tayo noted that the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently gave the school full accreditation to run 13 of the 20 academic programmes presented for accreditation, while six got interim accreditation.

“However, in a related development, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has accredited Babcock University Teaching Hospital for the training of up to 24 House Officers. The school also received two-year interim accreditation from the West African College of Surgeons.

In his address, the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, enjoined the students to be change agents and a shining light wherever they go. He urged them to be committed, determined and make the fear of God their watchword.
