Adoration – Part 11

God had shown Job that, as a limited human being, he had neither the ability to judge the God who created the universe nor the right to ask why. God’s actions do not depend on ours. He will do what he knows is best, regardless of what we think is fair. See Isaiah 55:8, 9; 43:13; Rom 9:14-21; Rom 11:34, 35. It is important to note, however, that God came to Job, demonstrating his love and care for him.
(2.1)The Benefits Of Stillness

“Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth!” (Ps 46:10)
“Be still.” The Hebrew here can be translated, “let go,” that is, quit holding on to things that keep you from exalting God and giving Him His proper place in your life. War and destruction are inevitable, but, so is God’s final victory. At that time, all will stand quietly before the Lord Almighty. How proper, then, for us to be still now, reverently honouring him and his power and majesty. Take time each day to be still and to exalt God.

“And Moses said to the people, “do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14: The Lord will fight for you, and you shall holdyour peace,” Exod 14:13, 14.

The people were hostile and despairing, but Moses encouraged them to watch the wonderful way God would rescue them. Moses had a positive attitude! When it looked as if they were trapped, Moses called upon God to intervene. We may not be chased by an army, but we may still feel trapped. Instead of giving in to despair, we should adopt Moses’ attitude: “stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.”
(2.2)Keeping Still Is A Prerequisite For Hearing God’s Voice

“Then He said: “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but theLordwas not in the earthquake. 12: And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. 13:So, it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly, a voice came to him, and said: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1Kgs. 19:11-13).
