Adoration – Part 5

As we maintain the habit of constant intimate communion with Christ in adoration, we draw strength from Him. It makes us want to please Him by obeying Him and remaining in His love.

Adoration keeps our lives clean by resisting all sin and yielding to the Spirit’s direction. It encourages us to study the scriptures the more, keep God’s word continually in our hearts and minds and make it the guide for our action. Adoration makes us conscious of the fact that we cannot hide from God. We want to behold God’s face smiling at us in approval and appropriate His priestly blessing.

God lives inside us through the Holy spirit, hence we are encouraged to live from “inside out.” You do not struggle to live by works. It changes meaningless, wearisome toil into spiritual productivity and purpose. As we gaze and gaze on Christ in adoring contemplation, He performs a divine alchemy in our hearts and lives, transforming us from glory to glory to find in Him alone our all in all. Succinctly put, adoring contemplation leads to effortless change. Living in God’s presence translates to submission. You do not submit to circumstances, but to the Lord Who controls circumstances. You enjoy the peace of God as you trust in Him. God’s peace guards your heart against anxiety.

Adoration purifies your thoughts as you focus your mind on what is good and pure. Your heart is transformed and refashioned after the image of Christ. It humbles you, as you remain content with God’s leading, in your life. Such contentment gives you security so that you no longer have to prove yourself to others. It makes you lean on the Lord. It makes you wait silently to hear what God has to say to you—including prophecies.

You intentionally choose to give God first place in every area of your life. You are eager to please Him by giving Him your best in all your endeavours and this leads to promotion at work, at home and at school, among others, because we have the spirit of excellence. It emboldens you as you have a positive attitude even in the presence of formidable enemies and challenges; you don’t give up in despair, you are confidentthat you are under the protective banner of God. It reinforces in your mind the exclusivity of Christ as the answer to all your problems. It gives us joy; it gives contentment. Even in old age, you shall still be productive. The Christian faith is first of all a personal ministering to the Lord Jesus, Himself. Our heartfelt attachment to and love for Jesus is the most valuable aspect of our relationship to Him. We must not work independent of God, but in union with Him.
