Adoration – Part 9

Method And Process For Adoring Contemplation (Cont)

Who he is means His glory, His honour, His power and His saving grace. Some of the characteristics associated with His name are: compassion, being slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin, (Ex 34:6, 7). What was Moses’ response when God revealed His name? “So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped,” (Ex 34:8).

Furthermore, you cannot truly admire a God whose nature and character you do not know. Therefore, a compelling adjunct for rewarding sessions of adoration is a constant study of God’s word and meditation on His word as espoused in the Holy scriptures. Be eager for God’s manifest presence more than His presents. Relish a loving fellowship with God—more than asking for things (petition). Adoration is a personal heartfelt love for and devotion to Jesus. We must have a desire for His presence and fellowship like that of a lovesick bride longing for the companionship of her bridegroom.

During adoration, God is in communion with your born again spirit. He communicates with you from inside and calls you by name and you hear His voice. Adoration is holding ourselves steady so that the Lord’s reflection can fall on us. A Christian is actually transformed into the image upon which he gazes. When we gaze on God, we become like a mirror in which the likeness of Jesus is seen more and more clearly. Adoration is holding ourselves steady so that the Lord’s reflection can fall on us. Remaining still before the Lord is the secret. But keeping still is a problem for many Christians in these frantic and frenetic days when people seem troubled.
(2.1) How Can We ‘Look’ At God?(Read Psalm 25:1-22)
“My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He shall pluck my feet out of the net,” (Ps 25:15). “Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens,” (Ps 123:1).

Ps 123:1ff,The psalmist lifted his eyes to God, waiting and watching for God to send his mercy. The more he waited, the more he cried out to God because he knew that the evil and proud offered no help — they had only contempt for God.

“Unto You I lift up my eyes.” This psalm describes humble believers who look continually and expectantly to God to put an end to the contempt and scorn shown towards them. It expresses the cry of those who are always watching for and desiring Christ’s return to save His people from an ungodly and hostile world (see Heb 12:2; 2 Pet 3:12; Mat 24:42; Tit 2:13). Adoration of God is not just to glance at God,but to gaze on God.
