Group donates food items, medicals to Lagos community

Reapers Assembly (The City of Joy) in collaboration with Divine Treasures Fellowship has donated foodstuffs and medicals to families and residents of Adeba-Lakowe community in Lagos.

Some of the items donated during the group’s three-day event, included rice, garri, tomatoes, salt, seasoning and vegetable oil, among others.

The convener of the programme, Owoyemi Emmanuel, who spoke at the event themed: “Change Agent Outreach 2022,” said the donation was a way of contributing to the society.  

Apart from preaching God’s words, he said, charity projects, community health treatment and vocational projects are other ways of ensuring development in the country.

Urging other Christian groups to show love, Emmanuel said: “We show love physically, emotionally and mentally. Government cannot do everything for its citizens, religious organisations, foundations and corporate bodies should complement government’s efforts.”

Emmanuel said his group had supported communities in Niger Delta, Maiduguri, Kwara, Ogun and Lagos for the past 10 years. 

Commenting on the event, convener, Fingers Network, Treasures Uchegbu, said the group partnered Reapers Assembly to enlighten people on the use of sign languages and care for hearing impaired persons and also to support their dreams.
 
Uchegbu urged parents, caregivers to assist persons living with disabilities to use their skills and talents more creatively and productively. She enjoined Nigerians to embrace them and discourage all forms of stigmatisation, discrimination and abuses against them.
 
The event also witnessed the grand finale of the digital and six-month free fashion design training for women in the community.
