Proverbs 29:18: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
God wants any project in heaven and under the heaven to be properly planned and executed for its full benefits to be realized.Although nobody knows about the pre-creation era, but it is believed that God had a proper plan, made projections of what to achieve before going into the creation proper, which was the reason He was just commanding everything into existence. When man and his government on earth failed, following man’s disobedience to God’s instruction, the devil took over the leadership of the earth, holding man in bondage through sin. God promised the coming of a deliverer who will save man from the yoke of sin.
The coming of the Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ, took a long time plan, and this includesthe setting of the desired goal, beforecame into the world. There was a proper plan and goal prior to execution. The Bible says that God sees the end from the beginning. The same way the human mind visualises the end result before the execution of any project commences. The plan is to enable him remain focused till the end of the project. That is why in the lead scripture the Bible makes it clear that where there is no vision, the people perish. The Hebrew word for vision is not the ordinary word for something seen; rather, it is an indication of a revelation from God. lt is an opening for future event, the type that one is expected to prepare for.
Prior to His coming, our Lord Jesus Christ had a clear goal of His mission on earth and when He came, he focused on its pursuit and achievement without any form of distractions. It is based on His set that He clearly distinguished His vision on earth from that of John the Baptist in John 5:36 saying: “But I have greater witness than that of John; for the works which the father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do bear witness of me, that the father hath sent me.”
In comparing and contrasting, the visions of John the Baptist and that of our Lord Jesus Christ you will discover that John merely came for the introduction of our Lord Jesus Christ. His project on earth ended as soon as the ministry of Jesus Christ started. On the other hand, Jesus Christ came to reclaim the lost kingdom and establish His own that will be in line with the original plan of God on earth. This kingdom has no end. He has also come to seek and to save mankind that was lost. The people He will recover will eventually inhabit the reclaimed kingdom when it is finally established. Our Lord Jesus Christ, therefore, has some goals to achieve, which is the reason all through His earthly ministry He did not allow distraction to derail Him from the set goals He has come to accomplish. He further laid emphasis on the need for the completion of the duties assigned to Him by the father when He made a declaration in John 4:30-34 saying: “Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.31: In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.32: But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. 33: Therefore said the disciples one to another, hath any man brought him ought to eat? 34: Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”
Jesus Christ set the goal for His earthly ministry according to the mandate given to Him by the father in heaven. He faithfully kept and executed it to the last letter. In the programme was that he will be subjected to sacrificial death on the cross. When He told His disciples about it ApostlePeter rejected it for Him. He rebuked Peter in Matthew 16:21-23 saying: “From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. 22: Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. 23: But he turned, and said unto Peter, get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.”
Our Lord Jesus Christ rebuked Peter because he wanted to discourage Him from the God given assignment, which of course is the purpose of His coming into the world. Christ fulfilled His set goal and at the end, while on the cross, He said: “It is finished”. The work of redemption of mankind is completed.
Jesus Christ is the author and the finisher of our faith; hence we look unto Him as our guide both in the spiritual and the secular life. As Christians running the heavenly race, we will set goals that will help us work out our salvation and keep us going in our secular life. There is need for a lifetime goal called long term plan. We will also have yearly goal equally called mid-term plan and the daily plan or short term goal. As Christians, we should have plans to preach the gospel to win souls for God’s kingdom. If we pursue God’s programme, our own projects will be taken care of.
However, we should have plan for our business. There must be set goals for daily achievement, plan for the year and also, programme for life. It is important to note that you need a plan for a year, which will be in line with the lifetime project. The vision when fulfilled will definitely bring happiness to you and all the people the projecthas impacted their lives.
At this juncture, what is your goal or vision for this year? Have you mapped out how many souls you are going to win for God this year and the strategy or strategies you will apply to achieve your set vision or goal? Moreover, what vision do you have for your business, work, family or your career? Our text above says: “Where there is no vision, the people perish….” Not having a vision will make you to take any rubbish that comes your way, but if you have a vision, which is written to put you on track, you will be focused on the vision. You will make sure that nothing distracts you from achieving it. The year is still you and if you have not set your vision or goal for the year, please go now and do so.
However, note that any vision outside God, is fruitless; therefore, make sure your vision aligns with God. This is only when you will be sure to achieve that vision successfully (Matt.6v33).
Testimony Of The Lord’s Doing
Contract Secured Against All Odds
My name is Brother Chibuike. I joined this movement in 2010 and l amthankful to God for it. I am full of appreciation to God for what He has done for me. l came to Lagos with so much burden in my heart. There was this contract l was pursuing in my office. One of my colleagues was a member of the committee in charge of awarding the contract. When he knew of my interest in the contract, he called me and said he was not sure l would be given the contract. Though he said l should call him to know more about it, which I did and he said he had discussed the issue with his colleague in the United Kingdom and the way things are, I will not get the contract. I did not allow that to bother me; rather l left for the Mgbidi Crusade. Along the way, l was preaching and inviting people to the crusade. At the crusade ground, God gave me wonderful revelations and through them l knew something positive would happen. After the crusade, l returned to Lagos and called the company. At first, the people were not picking my calls, but things turned around and I was call from the U.K. and awarded the contract; as l testify, l have signed the contract papers. God of Chosen is, indeed, very great.
