The last submission in this series featured “The Different Ages And Dispensations Of God’s Dealings With Men (termed ‘The Dispensational Periods.’”)

We noticed that God deals with HIS own people any way, time and season He chooses, and such does not transfer His mandates in a given dispensation into another, except He deems it fit to do so without human interference. 
 
Today, I am going to deal with Tithing (paying of tithes), which was a divine enactment in the Mosaic dispensation (a period from the giving of the ‘Law of Moses’ to the death of Christ) and whether or not God transferred Tithing into the Christian dispensation. 
 
The issue on Tithes payment has been recurring and ‘controversial,’ due to diverse shades of opinion and belief. These variations have occurred as a result of non-consideration of the dictates of the Scripture (Mt 15:7-9; Acts 4:19; 5:29; 2Tim 3:7).
 
The Apostles, who ushered in the church on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) after Jesus’ promised to build His church (Mt 16:18), had no divine mandate to transfer tithe payment from Jewish practice into Christian worship (Acts 2:42; 2John 9-10). 
 
The New Testament does not teach Tithing as a binding law for Christians. Rather, it upholds the principle of proportionate giving, the amount a person gives, depending on the amount he earns (1Cor 16:2; 2Cor 8:12-14).
 
Those who claim to pay Tithes use Malachi 3:8-10, Amos 4:4 and Mt 23:23 as their epicentres. But what they fail to realise is that the mentioned prophets were not under any divine impulses for Christians, but the Jews.
 
Similarly, we should know that in Mt 23:23, payment of tithes was in divine force, when Jesus was alive, as it was still under the ‘Law’ of Moses. Jesus lived and died under the Law to end the Law to usher in justification and grace (Gal 4:4-5; Rom 10:1-4). 
 
The terrible irony is that ‘tithe payers’ agree that Jesus died to end the Law, but unfortunately ‘Refuse To Accept’ that paying tithes was part of the Dead law (2Tim 3:7).
 
In the next edition, the Scripture will reveal what tithe is, its origin, types, when and how it became part of the Mosaic law, who paid and to whom, its purpose and its final abrogation (when it ended authoritatively).
