AI revolutionises Nollywood as Ino Moses Jonah empowers filmmakers

Abuja played host to a groundbreaking film training event on Monday, June 9, as filmmakers, digital creators, and media enthusiasts gathered for a transformative session on “Using ChatGPT in the Film Production Process.”

The one-day capacity-building workshop marked a major step forward in merging artificial intelligence with Nigerian storytelling.

Acclaimed filmmaker Ino Moses Jonah, the organisers of the workshop shared powerful insights on how emerging AI tools,especially ChatGPT can assist filmmakers at every stage of production.

His sessions explored AI-driven approaches to scriptwriting, idea generation, dialogue polishing, and production planning, sparking enthusiastic discussions among attendees.

“AI is not replacing the storyteller-it’s equipping us to tell bolder, smarter stories,” said Jonah, while delivering his keynote address.

“This is the future, and Nigerian creatives must lead the charge,” he added.

The training was powered by Ojoru Media in collaboration with the SDGs Short Film Challenge and Awards, an initiative promoting storytelling aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The training emphasized the role of technology in amplifying social impact through creative media, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Participants, including content creator Emoike Oyanogbezina (Kingzina de flenjo master), praised the training for its practical focus and relevance, discovering AI as a creative partner.

“I used to see AI as a tech buzzword,” said Emoike Oyanogbezina popularly known as Kingzina de flenjo master , a content Creator who attended the workshop. “Now I see it as a creative partner that can help me bring my ideas to life faster and better.”

Attendees participated in hands-on exercises using ChatGPT to brainstorm plotlines, develop characters, and structure film treatments.

Organizers aim to empower storytellers with the tools of tomorrow, with this workshop being just the beginning.
