The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (ACCIL) has said that its partnership with Unilever Nigeria PLC, as well as, other indigenous and multinational companies, would help to grow the Nigerian economy.

President of ACCIL, Mr Tonye Ejinkonye, disclosed this at the presentation of membership certificate to Unilever Plc in Abuja, recently, noting that it is expedient to deploy the winning strategies of such multinationals to create employment and business opportunities for Nigerians.

He said, “the ACCIL serves as a rendezvous and as strategic partner to companies. We are concerned about growing the economy and we need such collaborations. We want to attract high net worth companies and multinationals into the chamber to for collaborations on how to grow the Nigerian economy. We owe it as a duty to our country and to our youths.”

In her response, the Director of Corporate Affairs Department of Unilever Plc, Mrs. Soromidayo George, said that the partnership with the chamber was for the overall benefit of the economy, adding that various platforms initiated by ACCI, especially the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development would create opportunity for youths to acquire critical skills needed for self-employment.

She commended the achievements of the current leadership of the chamber, especially on its partnership with a South African company to build the biggest shopping mall in Nigeria.

“These are amazing achievements that we should all be proud of and are capable of making the chamber one of the best in Nigeria and in Africa,” she said.
