Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa

The Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria (ACGPN) has asked the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) to recognise its training certificates and accredit its members to enable them to sign financial statements.

Speaking during a courtesy call of ACGPN to FRC corporate headquarters in Lagos, the Chairman of the Association, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, also demanded that the FRC recognises the Association’s training for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) directors, which according to him, would help them to demonstrate effective leadership characterised by ethical values of responsibility, accountability, fairness and transparency.

Responding to their demands, the Chief Executive Officer of the FRC, Daniel Asakpohai, assured them that the council would look into their demands and act in due course.

He also hinted them on the desire of the Council to collaborate with professional and corporate bodies to carry out several researches in areas of financial reporting.

Ohuabunwa thanked the council for the opportunity to visit and pledged the association’s readiness to work with the FRC to promote good corporate governance in the country.

Among the delegation of ACGPN were Mosaku- Johnson; Wuyi Ogunyinka; Adedyinka Hassan, Dorcas James and Nicholas Ikhane, while the FRC was represented by Iheanyi Anyahara; Abubakar Ibrahim; Nelson Anumaka and Titus Osawe.
