“This is now sufficient to meet local demand and continued importation of cement into the local market in Cameroon will need to be reviewed” – in other words, Dangote is looking for a monopoly, as he has in Nigeria (technically, Nigerian case is oligopoly, but Dangote cement is more than the rest combined so it is a defacto monopoly). When Dangote asked for government subsidies to build his plants, he promised that the cement prices will crash when he is done. He is now done and we are supposed to be self-sufficient and the cement price is now going for thrice the previous price instead of the crash he promised. Hopefully Cameroon will not fall for the nonsense. If he wants importation out of the market, let him price his commodity low enough to drive them out.
