Kebbi recovers N1b from CBN’s anchor borrowers’ defaulters

Following the establishment of CBN Anchor Borrowers recovery loan committee by the Kebbi State Government, yesterday about one Billion Naira have been realized as a payback loan by the Rice farmers who applied for the loan.

Following the establishment of CBN Anchor Borrowers recovery loan committee by the Kebbi State Government, yesterday about one Billion Naira have been realized as a payback loan by the Rice farmers who applied for the loan.

Addressing newsmen yesterday in Bagudu, the chairman loan recovery committee and also the Deputy Governor Alhaji Ismail Yombe said that so far about 1 billion naira have been realized by the farmers who collected the loan.

He explained further that those that were yet to paid and plan to default the government would face court injection.

Yombe said that in Bagudu about 5,968 farmers applied for the loan while express dismay over the intention and response of the people of the area.

“Out of the local government the committee visited so far, am not happy with the people of Bagudu local government and if at all things did not go well the way we want it all of them would be arrested” he added.

The Deputy Governor who commended the effort of the state government for inagurating the loan recover committee , lamenting that without the committee effort people were not willing to payback the loan.

Our correspondent gathered that in 2015 President. Muhammadu Buhari flag-off about 15!illion naira CBN Anchor Borrowers loan in kebbi state to enable rice farmers to produce rice in the country while some defaults the government for not payback the loan at the stipulated time.
