Hundreds of unemployed youths and women in Nasarawa  State have engaged themselves in acquiring modern techniques for commercial poultry production.

Hundreds of unemployed youths and women in Nasarawa State have engaged themselves in acquiring modern techniques for commercial poultry production.

The empowerment programme was designed to transform the trainees into becoming self-sufficient, boost food security and increase the economy. Senator Abdullahi Adamu representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture, said in Abuja that the exercise was a joint effort of The Federal Government and National Assembly.The lawmaker said that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and, the management of Lake Chad Research Institute in collaboration with Hauge Logistics Ltd were the executors of the project.

Explaining further,  the former Nasarawa State governor averred that poultry production was a key value chain in the agricultural sector and vital to the success of the nation’s economy.

In his words, “This training will provide participants with the necessary skills for modern techniques in poultry production. The overall essence is for self-sufficiency. It will boost food security and increase the economy “.
