TAL launches N43.8b worth of fleet for offshore operations

Tropical Arctic Logistics Limited (TAL), yesterday in Lagos, launched its N43.8 billion ($120 million) worth of helicopter fleet for services in the oil and gas industry.

The fleet of six AW139 helicopters, with one already in the country, is expected to have been completed by the end of 2018.

Scores of guests, industry stakeholders in aviation and oil and gas that attended the launch at Lagos airport commended the investment in the offshore services.

President and Chief Executive Officer of TAL, Emperor Baywood Ibe, said that the launch was an historic occasion and TAL is set to transform the landscape of the aviation sector in Nigeria.

TAL, according to him, is a game-changer and has made massive investments in all key sectors of operations in order to sharpen its competitive edge.

He said that the growing interest in the offshore is the motivation behind the huge investment, especially given the limited number of operators in the industry that is high capital intensive and technically demanding.

“We have, therefore, positioned our company for leadership in this sector, an unparalleled feat for a company founded just five years ago.

The AW139 helicopter we have acquired is state-of-the-art and designed for safety and efficiency to service customer demand.

“We will continue to consistently evaluate the business dynamics and monitor the relevant sectoral indices in order to achieve optimal growth and profitability for the company.

These are exciting times for Tropical Arctic Logistics and all business indicators portend a very bright future for the company,” Ibe said.

He assured all stakeholders that the entire management and staff are passionately committed to implementing the transformational agenda as envisioned by the Board of Directors in achieving unparalleled safety records.

Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TAL, Femi Adeniji, said further that the company believes in local content, and has developed capacity for local maintenance of its fleet.

Adeniji advocated that in pursuant to the Nigerian Content policy, that the Federal Government, through NNPC should ensure and enforce initiatives to support indigenous investors such as TAL for sustainable business growth which ultimately impacts positively on job creation and other socio-economic benefits.

Former Foreign Affairs Minister and Chairman of TAL, Henry Odein Ajumogobia (SAN), congratulated team for feat, describing it as a product of careful planning and years of experience.
