An international hospital, StarCare has unveiled a cosmetic gynecology clinic that would provide specialised healthcare solutions, including laser surgery, bariatric surgery and aesthetic surgery to reduce foreign medical tourism, as well as boost healthcare in the country.
The hospital, launched recently in Lagos, is set to become one of the country’s most trusted and desired international healthcare providers by combining world-class excellence and providing access and affordability to Nigerians.
The Chairman of the company, Dr Ashraff Mohammad during the launch said the new facility would serve the community with compassion, excellence, and innovation.
Ashraff explained that cosmetics gynecology is used in addressing aesthetic concerns and rejuvenation of the female genitalia after childbirth and that through the surgeries, they attempt to reverse the mothers to at least 80 to 90 per cent.
“The hospital aims to become the centre of excellence in healthcare, offering a wide range of medical services like cosmetic gynecology, where a mother after having her kids have visible natural changes due to the births, we attempt to reverse them at least 80 to 90 per cent to the way she was before giving birth.
“Other unique features include laser surgeries, which do not involve stitches, or cuts on the body and the patient could go home the same day. People have been doing open surgeries, which are usually painful and could last up to one or two months but with laser, there is instant relief and non-invasive,” he said.
Mohammad pointed out that a lot of people travel abroad due to inadequate health facilities in Nigeria; therefore, there was a need to bring such facilities locally for easier access to the people, as well as save foreign exchange on medical tourism.
Managing Director, StarCare Int. Hospital, Dr Ajayi Olusola, said that the hospital is a private specialist hospital with orthopedics as a specific subspecialty.
Olusola noted that the hospital though private, will partner with most of the HMOs that are in Nigeria so that healthcare insurance would be accessible in the hospital. “We also intend to make our rate affordable so that they are within the reach of the average Nigerian, and no one would be left out in the initiative,” he said.
