How To Get Pink Lips

If you are wondering why your lips seem to be dry, chapped, and pigmented, there are a lot of things that cause these peculiarities. Our lips are usually extremely sensitive, vulnerable to everything you do, eat or get exposed to. Exposing yourself to the sun, pollution and some unhealthy lifestyles e.g. (Taking excess sugar, not drinking enough water, consuming too much caffeine, and smoking) can lead to dry and pigmented lips. But that does not mean it has to be that forever. A few simple DIY remedies are all you need to get softer, smoother, and pinker lips. Let’s examine some of these steps below.

1. Exfoliate Your Lips: To get a perfect pink colour lips, you need to exfoliate your lips first, using a lip balm with a thick consistency and a toothbrush with soft layer or napkin; depending on how tender your lips are.

Steps: Apply a thick layer of lip balm to your lips. Leave it on for a while so that your lips can absorb moisture. This is to make exfoliating easier and faster. Use your toothbrush to massage area gently in circular motion for 2 mins then dip a washcloth in warm water and wipe off the lip balm. Apply a thin layer of balm if your lips feel dry. However; please note that how often you do this hugely depends on the texture of your lips. Exfoliating too often can scrape your lips, leaving them raw and exposed. Make sure you don’t scrub too often or hard.

2. Chose A Natural Product that soothes Your Lips: Here are a list of some natural products you can try out.

  • Aloe Vera Gel: Aloe Vera helps to soothe chapped and irritated lips by stimulating the growth of new skin cells damaged by the sun. What to do: Peel off the outer layer of one aloe leaf to get to the gel. Scoop out the gel and store it in a container. Use as you would use a lip balm, and store in the refrigerator. You can use Aloe Vera gel desire daily.
  • Beetroot: Another natural ingredient that can get you pink lips is beetroot. Beetroot has natural bleaching properties that can lighten dark lips. What to do: Apply fresh beetroot juice on your lips before going to bed. Wash it off the next morning. The natural red color of the juice will turn your dark lips rosy. Do this daily before going to bed. Remember to rinse off in the morning using lukewarm water. Do this once a day and repeat twice ones or twice a week.
  • Rose: Rose has three main medicinal properties: soothing, cooling, and moisturizing. Rose also helps to add a natural pink tint to your dark lips.Soak a few rose petals in raw milk for one hour, and then grind the mixture to make a paste. Add one-half teaspoon of honey and a pinch of butter to it. Apply the paste on your lips and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Do this two times a daily and repeat process twice a week for optimum effect.
  • Lemon: Lemon is often used to treat dark skin patches and spots. You can use it to naturally lighten dark lips. The bleaching property in lemon works well as a simple yet powerful remedy for dark lips. What to doAdd 1 teaspoon of honey to a ½ teaspoon lemon juice and mix well, apply the pack to your lips and keep it on for 15 minutes. Wipe it off with a washcloth and follow up with a moisturizing lip balm. You can use this process every day as well.
  • Coriander Leaf: Coriander helps in reducing pigmentation, due to the presence of umbelliferone compound in it. Regular use of coriander can reduce the darkening on your lips and leave them pinker. What to do: Pluck 3-4 leaves of coriander, crush leaves and apply directly to your lips. Keep it on for 30 minutes and wipe with a moist napkin. This can be done every day.
