The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) has disclosed it would demolish over 750 illegal shanties. Diamond and M&D Estates also risk pulling down.

The FCTA said all the structures did not conform to the Abuja Master Plan.

Coordinator of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Umar Shuaibu, said: “In continuation of its sanitisation of the Federal Capital, the AMMC visited Lugbe and found out that no fewer than 750 illegal shanties were built under high tension wires in Tudun Wada Peace Village.

All such structures are to be removed including those that breach the legally permitted 30 metres proximity to the electrical installation.”

Shuaibu said other properties to be demolished include the Lugbe FHA Farm Market. He noted that the demolition is in the interest of the public. He advised estate developers to always approach the Department of Development Control for necessary approvals.
